Department of Electrical Safety, Government of Uttarakhand

The Electrical Inspectorate, under the Energy Department of the Government of Uttarakhand, operates as an establishment headed by the Director, Electrical Safety. Its head office is located in Haldwani, District Nainital.

The primary objective of the Electrical Inspectorate is to implement and administer the following Acts, Rules, and Regulations:

• Relevant provisions of the Electricity Act, 2003 and the Central Electricity Authority (Measures Relating to Safety and Electric Supply) Regulations, 2010, issued under the Act.
• The Uttarakhand Electricity Duty Act and the rules framed under it.
• The Uttarakhand Electrical Contractor Licensing Regulations

The Inspectorate exercises jurisdiction across the entire state, except over works belonging to Defence, Railways, and Central Government installations.
